Grounding is one of my most favorite subjects to talk about, because it's SO IMPORTANT FOR EVERYONE! For those of you who know me or have attended a reading in the past, you've probably heard me say this, but seriously, guys, this is a BIG DEAL.
I often have clients come to me and say that they feel "scattered", or they feel like they can't keep up with all of the demands of our everyday lives. And I have to say, I can relate! The wonderful news is that each and every one of us is in charge of the way we feel at all times! AND, there's a simple way for us to regain the control and balance we seek! GROUNDING!
The idea behind grounding is simple: you visualize yourself planting roots into the core of the Earth to help you feel more stable and secure. For some, this will quickly turn into a habit. And for others it will be a bit more challenging.
There's no "right" or "wrong" way to ground yourself. Just like there's no "right" or "wrong" way to meditate! You can keep it quick and simply quiet yourself and visualize roots coming from the bottom of your feet that grow into the center of the Earth while you take a few deep breaths, you can utilize a guided grounding meditation you enjoy on YouTube (I really like this one if you have the time), or some people can even simply put their bare feet in the grass and it happens naturally (this is actually called Earthing, which is another awesome practice to incorporate as often as possible into your daily life). Anything is better than nothing! And you can do it as frequently as you feel like you need it! Once a day is a wonderful place to start.
Grounding naturally opens up your Root and Earth Star Chakras, which control feelings of security and safety within us. An imbalance in these two energy centers can result in problems with finances, anxiety, excessive worrying, fear, insecurity, issues with your adrenal glands (fatigue), and more. I have also found that my intuition and clarity both increase when I'm more grounded. Makes sense though, doesn't it?
It's so easy to get swept up and swallowed by all of the obligations in a day, but YOU CAN'T DRINK FROM AN EMPTY CUP! The best way to help others, is by taking care of ourselves first. And for me, that starts with grounding!
That being said, my personal practice for grounding varies. In the mornings I typically like to light some incense, and build a crystal grid (the one below is a nice example from the other afternoon) before I ground myself and meditate. This helps me to really get into the zone when I know I have a busy day ahead. However, LIFE HAPPENS SOMETIMES, and I don't always have the luxury of pulling out all the stops like that! Sometimes my daughter wakes up earlier than planned, or I get lost in emails, or I wake up late, etc. THOSE tend to be the days that I need it the most, too! So having a fail-safe in place is really important to me!
